AI Processing Disclosure
Effective 16 October 2026. Operated by Digital Infinity Group LLC. Questions: support@homekcal.com
What is sent to the AI
Only what you ask the app to read:
- A meal photo, shrunk on your phone first, when you take a photo log.
- A nutrition label photo, when you scan a label.
- The words you type, when you type a meal.
- With each of these, the cuisines, diet type and small-portions setting you chose, which help it recognise your food, and a one-way coded account number used only to stop abuse. Never your name, email, weight or other meals.
- Never voice audio: speaking a meal is turned into text on your phone, and only that text is sent, like a typed meal.
Who processes it
Our server sends it to Anthropic's Claude model through Vercel's AI Gateway. We ask for zero data retention on every request, so neither keeps the photo or the text after answering. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. Both act as our processors under their commercial terms and data processing agreements.
Photos are deleted after analysis
Our server holds the photo only in memory while the model reads it, then drops it. It is never written to storage, a log or a backup. A small thumbnail stays on your phone so you can see your meals; it is never uploaded. If your phone is offline, the shrunk photo waits on the phone until it can be sent, then is deleted; you can discard waiting photos in Settings.
What comes back, and how sure it is
The model names the foods it sees and estimates portions. The app matches those to food data and works out calories and nutrients, shown as a range with the likely value marked, because an estimate from a photo can be wrong by a lot. Tap any number to see what it was based on, and correct it in one tap. The app uses your corrections for your later estimates; they are not sent to train any model.
Your choice
You never have to use a photo. Barcode, typed and spoken logging, recents and favourites all work without sending a photo anywhere. Spoken logging is turned into text on your phone, so it works on phones that can do that on the device.
